Trump updates Live Live Aptination: Trump to discuss Ukraine with national security advisors

National Security Advisor Mike Waltz said that President Donald Trump and his national security team will have a “broad discussion of what follows” for Ukraine when they meet on Monday, after the explosive meeting of the Oval Office on Friday with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Waltz expressed his support for European efforts to negotiate peace, saying that “we welcome Europeans who take the advantage over European security.”

Waltz told Fox News that the Trump administration wants Zelenskyy to express “repentance” for the volatile meeting.

“What we need to hear from President Zelensky is that he regrets what happened, is ready to sign this mineral agreement and is ready to participate in peace conversations. I don’t think it’s too much to ask,” said Waltz.

Waltz also said that the administration expects both parties to make concessions, describing widely how it would be seen.

“I think many people can see what are those more or less; in terms of security guarantee for some type of territorial concessions, these broad contours are evident,” he said. “Do both parties have the will to sit and lead this to peace? That is the goal of President Trump. That is what was chosen to do, and that is what we are ready to do and trying to do at this time.”
