Driver in the Liverpool Ramming parade arrested for attempted murder, which is believed to be drugged in attack

The suspect accused of ramming a car in a crowd in Liverpool in a parade of the Victoria of the Premier League on Monday has been arrested for attempted murder, driving reckless and believed that it was drugged during the attack, the authorities said during a press conference on Tuesday.
The Merseyside police said on Tuesday that 65 people were injured by the attack, and 11, all in stable condition, still remain in the hospital.
The authorities said there was a solid traffic plan for the parade, which included Water Street, where the attack occurred. But, the street was temporarily reopened for an ambulance to treat someone who suffers an alleged heart attack, and the 53 -year -old suspect followed the ambulance within the crowd.

Police officers are on a cordon at the entrance of Water Street, at the scene of an incident, apart from a bus parade open for the victory of the Premier League title of Liverpool, in Liverpool, northwest of England, on May 26, 2025.

The attack is not yet treated as terrorism and the authorities continue their research. The suspect remains in custody and is being interviewed by officials.
Police said they will not speculate on the attack and will encourage others to “refrain from sharing anguishing content online.”
Hundreds of thousands had gathered in a parade celebrating the Liverpool Football Club winning the English Premier League soccer title when a vehicle crashed “with several pedestrians in Water Street” just after 6 pm local time on Monday, police said.
“Upon arrival, the crews met with numerous people injured and four people trapped under a vehicle,” said Dave Kitchin, of the Northwest ambulance service, at a press conference on Monday.
Three adults and a child were taken from under the vehicle, which stopped at the scene, he said. Twenty people were treated in the place by minor wounds, Kitchin said.

“Unfortunately, four of the injured were children who enjoyed the day with their friends and families,” Kitchin said.
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, described the incident as “terrible” and his “thoughts are with all the injured or affected.”
Liam Robinson, from the Liverpool City Council, said the attack “throws a very dark shadow on what had been a very happy day.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are with those that have been affected by this serious incident,” said Liverpool FC in a statement on Monday. “We will continue to offer our full support for emergency services and local authorities that are dealing with this incident.”
