Senate Democrats want to investigate whether Trump’s administration helps Musk to make Starlink agreements

As President Donald Trump continues his first foreign trip through the Middle East, a group of Senate Democrats is asking for an investigation into whether the Trump administration is cleaning obstacles to Starlink, a company led by the main advisor of the White House, Elon Musk, to achieve foreign agreements.

In a letter sent on Wednesday to the Attorney General PAM Bondi, Interim Director of the United States Government Ethics Office, Jamieson Greer, Interim General Inspector of the State Department, Arne Baker and the Ethics of the White House, Scott Gast, the senators requested an investigation into whether the administration is “intervening” to benefit the stars of the star to “negotiate the” foreign governments “.

Member of Classification of the Banking Committee of the Senate Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Vice President of the Mark Warner Intelligence Committee, D-VA., And the classification member of the Foreign Relations Committee, Jeanne Shaheen, Dn.H., are leading the effort, raising concerns about Recent Washington Post reports That suggests that the State Department could be pushing other countries to clean barriers for the Musk satellite company.

“These reports indicate that Mr. Musk may be using his official role and his proximity to the President as an influence for his own personal financial benefit, even if it is at the expense of US consumers and the interest of foreign policy of the nation,” the senators wrote. “These actions raise questions about whether Mr. Musk or other administration officials may be violating ethics or other laws.”

The Senate Democrat Group, which includes a series of additional Democratic flakes, said the Department of Justice and the Ethics Official of the White House designated must investigate “if Musk or other administration officials may have violated the Federal Ethics Law by abusing their official roles for the Starlink benefit.”

The letter arrives when Musk appeared with Trump during his first foreign trip of his second term. Musk sat prominently when the president delivered comments in the Saudi-US Investment Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Tuesday.

During the comments separated in the same forum, Musk announced that Saudi Arabia had approved Starlink for aviation and maritime use in the region, which increases the concern of the senators.

“Musk announced that Saudi Arabia approved Starlink, as well as White House and American technology announced defense and trade agreements with Saudi Arabia and a Saudi company,” they wrote. “Starlink will earn billions of dollars to unlock access to these new markets.”

But the contract with Saudi Arabia is not the only example that senators cite. Starlink, according to senators, has seen an “avalanche of new countries that allow the company to enter its markets” since Trump assumed the position. This, they said, occurs after the company had trouble obtaining permits to operate in certain foreign markets.

The letter cited Starlink’s recent expansion to Bangladesh, who approved Starlink’s access to his market shortly after an official of the Bangladesh government met with musk in the White House. Legislators argued that there should be an investigation into whether Musk’s meeting with Bangladesh officials violated ethics laws due to Musk’s status as a special government employee.

They also noticed reports that India seems to have “accelerated” in Starlink’s approvals while participating in negotiations with the White House about tariffs.

“Suggesting that a foreign government adopts Starlink in exchange for relief in tariffs seems to be a case of corruption of textbooks,” they wrote in the letter. “The Public Integrity Section of the DOJ is responsible for investigating potentially criminal conflicts such as this. The Ethics Official of the designated agency of the White House can similarly investigate the possible violations of ethics by the white house officials. We ask that the Department of Justice and the White House investigates if an official has made an exchange of Quid-Pro-Quid-Pro-Starlink Access violation of the Federal Ethics Law “.

“It is completely false to say that Elon Musk had or has something to do with agreements that involve Starlink. This is just a more false news of the media determined to invent conflicts of interest that do not exist. For the nth time, President Trump will not tolerate any conflict of interest, and each administration official follows the ethical guidelines established by their respective agencies,” said the director of the press of White House, The Secretary of the Harrison press, Harrison’s press secretary of Harrison.

Trump said previously that he would ensure that there was no conflict of interest that involved Musk.

“If there is a conflict, then we will not let it come.

ABC News also communicated with Starlink to comment.

The Senate Democrats have focused on the role of Musk as a special government employee for some time, raising repeated concerns about conflicts of interest between the richest man in the world’s business and his governmental advice.

This is the last of a series of letters aimed at Musk in recent weeks, including a separate legislative thrust from Warren that would prohibit special government employees such as Musk to communicate with government agencies that interact with their companies and would require that these federal employees meet the new ethical requirements.
